Feb. 3, 2009 - PRLog -- Mumbai terror attacks also brought to the fore the challenges faced by media in crisis reporting. The image of a young woman journalist, crouching on the ground, clutching her microphone and giving live account of the Indian Special Forces launching their final assault on armed militants inside the TAJ HOTEL would remain one of the enduring images of the tragic incident. With gun shots ringing in the air and a few rounds of firing at the gathered media outside the TAJ HOTEL, media persons had to crouch and lie flat while reporting the incident live to their news channels. Crisis situations like battle, war or terror attacks test the very mettle of any journalist and separate wheat from chafe.

However everyone needs proper guidance, ethics and valued platform to make a responsible base of the profession. This is all true for the dynamic profession of journalism with so much of social value attached to it. Aspiring journalist need proper training and guidance from institutes which can provide quality education. Free opinion should also come with ethical values, and this training can only be imbibed under proper guidance. The sphere of mass communication being widely spread requires a combination of skills and traits. Different areas asks for different qualities, but for anyone to take on any of the fields of mass communication definitely requires better than average performance in whatever one does. It is not easy to get in and progressing is even difficult. In general, excellent communication skills, being a good team player are important, besides being confident and hardworking. Physical stamina and will power count in favour for jobs in mass communication. Other attributes vary from one another depending upon the area one pursues.

According to Mr. Nalin Ranjan, Director NRAI, “Globalization by implication, means a border-less world in which individual nations are witnessing paradigm shift in production and marketing practices on worldwide basis. Protected markets have become an anachronism and there is now a perceptible shift from the seller’s marker to a customer driven market. This has necessitated a radical reorientation in corporate strategies on global scale with greater attention and importance accorded to aspects like fostering strategic business linkage, technology up-gradation and human resource training and development.”
