Parkinson's Journey,  a website that focuses on those living with Parkinson's Disease (PD) has recently become an international forum for encouragement to those in the PD community.

What began in 2005 as a simplistic diary of a young woman diagnosed with PD at the age of 45, turned into a website that became an encouragement to others struggling with PD or similar disorders.

In 2007, Sherri Woodbridge, the author and founder of Parkinson's Journey or 'PJ' as some know it to be, recruited a friend, Judy Hensley, to be her partner in maintaining the site.  Being diagnosed in 2005 herself with  YOPD, Judy became an activist in finding a cure for PD.

While Pd is a disease that affects over 2 million worldwide, advances have been made to temporarily control the symptoms of the disease but to date no cure has been found.  While Michael J Fox and Muhammed Ali continue to be top names that bring attention to this fight for a cure, there are millions of unnamed who suffer daily, living with this monster.

PD affects more than its recipients, attacking the lives of families and friends associated with the carrier, as well.  Sherri and Judy strive to address this area of Parkinson's Disease, offering resources for caregivers and others associated indirectly with PD.  They are currently working on a video that is geared to family and friends of PD patients, offering support and encouragement and pointing them to invaluable group support with those in similar circumstances.

Their motto is their mission: to encourage and offer support to those with PD and for those who care for or know someone with PD.  They use personal experiences to bring humor to those living day to day with a debilitating disease and what was one day a personal diary has been an inspiration to many across the globe.  Also used are real-life stories of others affected by PD.

Sherri is currently working on a book about those who live with PD and their life stories, while Judy continues to speak to those who will listen about the journey of Parkinson's Disease and its impact on those who have it and/or  those who know someone with PD.

Both women can be reached by email at:  parkinsonsjourney@gmail.com

To view their website, which will soon be offering Parkinson's related items for sale, with all profit received given to the Michael J Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research, go to www.parkinsonsjourney.com.  They'd love to have you visit!
