The heads of major regional regulatory agencies and international industry leaders will be gathering at the 5th Annual Middle East Insurance Forum (MEIF 2009) on the 8th & 9th of February 2009 to shape the next phase of development for the regional insurance market.
The 5th Annual Middle East Insurance Forum will take place at an extraordinary time in the international financial markets and will set the stage for critical discussions on future growth paths for the regional insurance markets. Again held in strategic partnership with the Central Bank of Bahrain and with the support of the Bahrain Insurance Association, MEIF 2009 offers a timely opportunity for industry leaders to review the risks and opportunities in the Middle East insurance markets, the role of regulators in further strengthening this market, and the future outlook for industry growth, with key global and regional trends revised in the light of the global economic crisis.
The opening keynote session features perspectives from HE Rasheed M. Al Maraj, Governor, Central Bank of Bahrain, Abdul Khalik Raouf Khalil, Secretary General, Arab Insurance Federation (GAIF), HE Dr Bassel Hindawi, Director General, Insurance Commission of Jordan & Chairman, Arab Forum of Insurance Regulatory Commissions, , Husein Mohammed Al Meeza, Managing Director – CEO of AMAN, and Ashraf Bseisu, Chairman, Bahrain Insurance Association & President, General Arab Insurance Federation (GAIF).
The high-profile faculty of speakers at the 5th Annual Middle East Insurance Forum will also tackle the challenges of current low insurance penetration levels in the Middle East as well as competition and consolidation in the regional industry, and assess the scope for mergers and acquisitions to strengthen capabilities.
More than 300 industry leaders are expected to attend MEIF 2009 on the 8th & 9th of February 2009 in Bahrain to help chart the future growth path of the industry.
