Helping Hearts and Bodies- Wear Red Day 2009
Did you know that heart disease is the #1 killer of women not breast cancer. On February 6th the American Heart Associations Go Red for Women Campaign is asking everyone to wear RED and to donate money to increase the community awareness about heart disease in women.
How can women prevent heart disease?
By exercising at least 3 times a week for 30 minutes
Eating 5 fruits and vegetables a day
Drinking 8-10 glasses of water,
Getting adequate rest and sleep.
Eden Organix Eco-Conscious Boutique and Spa is hosting a Spa Party for the Go Red for Women campaign on Friday, February 6 from 6-8pm. We are asking all participants to wear red, bring a canned food for the Highland Park Food Pantry, and participate in our spa party.
Valerie Mason-Robinson, the founder of Eden Organix believes that heart disease is a strong issue to address because “so many women are caretakers but they don’t take the time to take care of themselves”. Plus, typically many of these diseases such as, breast cancer and heart disease are linked together from the bad habits formed from not taking care of your self.
If you can’t make the spa party please text your donation of $5 to 90999 and in the subject line write RED.
The admission to the spa party is only $25 and $5 of the fee will be donated to the Go Red for Women campaign. To find out more about how to prevent heart disease go to http://www.goredforwomen.org
