FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release) - Jan 30, 2009 -
Washington, D.C. –Composer Brian Wilbur Grundstrom captured a Bronze Peer Award from the Television, Internet, and Video Association of D.C. (TIVA) for the musical underscore in Sadie’s Waltz.  The award was given in the category of Audio Post – Original Composition.  The sold-out 2008 Peer Awards celebrates local excellence in media and offers one of the most sought-after awards in the video and multi-media production community. The ceremony was held at the National Press Club
Featuring Golden Globe winner Richard Beymer (Twin Peaks, West Side Story), Jon Stafford (Full Metal Jacket), Summer Stevens and Barbara Weetman, Sadie’s Waltz is a haunting story of grief and transcendence. A young woman trapped in a home destroyed by tragedy suffers her father’s tyrannical abuse until a strange vision inspired by a comic book advertisement shows her an unexpected path to liberation.
Written and directed by Edward R. Tyndall and beautifully photographed by award-winning cinematographer M. Shawn Lewallen, Sadie’s Waltz boldly dramatizes the subconscious in a film where the rational and the irrational collide in a struggle for the survival of a human soul.
Sadie's Waltz also was in the 2008 DC Shorts, Sostice and Cucalorus Film Festivals as well as the Sidewalk Moving Picture Festival.
Of the original composition, Sadie’s Waltz, and composer Brian Wilbur Grundstrom, Writer-Director, Edward Tyndall says “His [Brian’s] dedication to the collaborative nature of filmmaking and the creative process greatly increased the dramatic complexity of my films. Brian has an amazing talent for composing cinematic scores. I look forward to working with him on our next film."
Classically trained in piano and music theory, Brian Wilbur Grundstrom is a member of ASCAP and has created a body of music for film that includes original compositions for filmmakers Robert Gaston, Gary Wheeler, John Strawbridge, William R. Coughlan, Harjant Gill and Dan Sonnett, in addition to his work for Edward R. Tyndall.  He has presented his classical compositions for orchestra in venues in Washington, D.C., including the Kennedy Center, as well as in New York City.  He is a grant recipient from the D.C. Commission on the Arts and Humanities, an agency supported in part by the National Endowment for the Arts.
Grundstom’s latest CD is available through CDbaby www.cdbaby.com/cd/bwgrundstrom and on other digital download sites with music from Sadie's Waltz.  For more information on the TIVA PEER Awards, go to www.tivadc.org; for a sample of Sadie’s Waltz and other information on Brian Wilbur Grundstrom compositions, visit www.brianwilbur.com.
