Creating new and unique images of clothing is a lot of work. Some would deem this unnecessary, especially when you can simply find almost any image online and take it for yourself. There are a few misunderstood benefits to creating the images posted on you wholesale site. Creative control is one. We really care about our urban clothing product to the point we feel that this is a natural option.
Many of our customers are small start-up businesses that would like to sell their urban clothing on the web but just do not have the resources to do so. The added benefit of creating our own images is that we enable our customers to post the same wholesale clothing on their retail site with the use of those same images. This will help facilitate the customer’s success in online sells and directly increase our bottom line as well. Gestures like this will stay in the customers mind and will translate into return business.
You can take it a step further and add a watermark to the image. This way you can generate additional web traffic and sales through your primary customer. There is no guarantee of this, but it does not hurt to try. A water mark can be done in a very subtle way so that it is not obtrusive or annoying. Some will add the mark on any side, top or bottom, so that not to obscure the clothing. This is usually a bad idea. Anyone with minor photo editing experience can simply crop this off. It is best to lay out the watermark diagonally across the length of the entire image. Make sure it is light enough not to detract from the urban wear but visible enough to be read clearly. The best thing to write out in the watermark would be the site’s web address but an email address is okay if need be.
A watermark can be created in almost any standard image editor. Just use the text tool to place the mark across image. Next lower the opacity of the text to a very low number between 30 and 5, or maybe even less. Just make sure it is visible without detracting from the image of the clothing. Finally add some kind of effect to the text like embossing or drop shadow. That should do it! Once in place, this at least gives the company some assurance that the work will be properly recognized!
