Aladdin’s Eatery Sponsors AHA’s Go Red For Women

Raleigh franchise joins national chain to support the fight against heart disease in women

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release) - Jan 26, 2009 -
RALEIGH, NC – Aladdin’s Eatery, a full-service restaurant offering Middle Eastern fare and devoted to providing wholesome and nutritious food, is joining all Aladdin’s locations in sponsoring the American Heart Association’s annual Go Red for Women event.  Go Red For Women is a national movement that celebrates the energy, passion, and power of women joining to help find a cure for heart disease and stroke.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, heart disease and stroke account for 31% of all female deaths in North Carolina and, on average, over 32 females die from heart disease and stroke in North Carolina each day.  Based on WISQARS Leading Cause of Death Reports, heart disease was the leading cause of death in females in North Carolina in 2005, killing over 8,800 women.  That same year, stroke was the number three cause of death, killing close to 3,000 women in the state.

To help the American Heart Association raise money to support ongoing research and education about women and heart disease, women, companies, organizations, and cities nationwide will wear red on National Wear Red Day on Friday, February 6.  To raise funds locally, Aladdin’s Eatery in Sutton Square will be distributing “Go Red for Women” kits on February 6.  The restaurant will also be giving away a red dress pin for each $1 donation to the American Heart Association.

Throughout the entire month of February, Aladdin’s will have a ballot box set out for women to register to support the Go Red movement and to receive additional heart disease information by mail.  The restaurant has also designated a few “heart healthy” meals on their menu.  For every purchase of these meals, the restaurant will donate $1 to the AHA.  Raleigh owner, Tom Chebib, says supporting the American Heart Association in their fight against heart disease and stroke reflects his restaurant’s commitment of providing patrons with a wide variety of healthy menu options.  Aladdin’s boasts a healthy, fresh, and nutritional menu with 45 vegetarian menu items and 30 vegan items.

“We’re very excited about supporting the American Heart Association and bringing attention to the importance of making heart-healthy meal choices,” says Chebib.  “This is the first year that, as a chain, Aladdin’s Eatery is supporting this tremendous cause and organization.  We look forward to doing our part to help raise awareness of this disease and to bring the AHA one step closer to finding a cure.”

Aladdin’s Eatery is located at 6325-73 Falls of Neuse Road and is open at 11am daily for lunch and dinner.  For more information, visit www.aladdinseatery.com or call (919) 878-7690.
