Craftsman Takes A Stand To Restore New Orleans

New Orleans architectural masonry craftsman, Theodore Pierre, takes on historic restoration even in the aftermath of the storms. Mr. Pierre's life's work and his vision mean so much more now that there are so many challenges in New Orleans.

Jan. 25, 2009 - PRLog -- Theodore "Teddy" Pierre, second generation masonry craftsman and New Orleans native, has made it his personal mission to stay and restore the historic residences and landmarks that have been cherished by cultural connoisseurs for decades.  He has salvaged multi- storied walls, chimneys, courtyards, patios and fountains at treasured sites throughout the Vieux Carre', Garden District, Uptown, Carrollton, Old Metairie and Faubourg Marigny.  Mr. Pierre has demonstrated his highly regarded techniques at the New Orleans Museum of Art, the world renowned the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival and on several PBS documentaries in his efforts to raise awareness about the restorative movement that is still very much alive in New Orleans.  
His upcoming outreach efforts include citywide interactive tours of landmarks, an apprenticeship program for aspiring architectural craftsmen, and a publication illustrating the decades of craftsmanship that he and his father dedicated their lives to establishing throughout the city now focused upon restoration.  Mr. Pierre is a rather personable talent and accomplished gentleman who earned both his Bachelors and Masters in Architecture from Tulane University.  To him, there is no alternative to his continued dedication to the city's landmark assets.  Appreciate his work and his treasured city and you will earn his invitation to a world that can only be discovered with an exploratory visit to New Orleans.
