PRLog (Press Release) –
Jan 25, 2009 – Little Silver dentist Bruce Bilow is the first dentist in the state of New Jersey to acquire the Prexion 3D CBCT dental x-ray scanner. Dr. Bruce Bilow plans on utlizing this new three dimensional imaging modality in his general dental practice for improved diagnosis for procedures such as Periolase MVP-7 laser gum surgery, orthodontic tooth movements, analysis of endodontic cracked teeth, implant planning and placement, facial trauma ,TMJ study, sleep apnea and oral surgery .
Dr. Bruce Bilow states that the new Prexion 3D "allows the clinician to assess the quantity and quality of the bone present and to visualize the location and relationships between critical internal anatomic structures. This type of sophisticated and precise information is invaluable when treating patients with any kind of bone loss either due to disease or trauma."
There is growing demand to replace missing teeth with dental implants. People with teeth outlive those without them by ten years. Having a great smile improves the quality of life in many ways- better sex health, higher income and improved self esteem.
So when a tooth is lost and it needs to be replaced with a dental implant, your dentist needs to evaluate the area for quantity and quality of bone. Traditional two dimensional images from periapical and panoramic x-rays do not provide the buccolingual width and angulation of the available bone which are the most important criteria for implant selection and success. This is why new three dimensional scans are so important in implant planning.
If you are frustrated with your denture or partial or are in need of replacing a tooth, ask your dentist about dental implants and get your smile back on track.
