Dr. Robert A. Kramer, Vice President of Oncology and Immunology Drug Discovery at Bristol-Myers Squibb will give the keynote address entitled “What Were We Thinking Then? What Are We Thinking Now? - Anticipating the Needs of Cancer Patients 10+ Years from Now” at GTCbio’s at 6th Annual Cancer Drugs Research & Development Conference on February 19-20, 2009 in Philadelphia, PA.
Dr. Kramer will share with the conference delegates the lessons learned from the bench to market experiences of the industry and discuss some of the BMS strategy for anticipating the state of cancer therapy in 2020. He will cover the different drug targets that best fit the profile of future therapies and project towards what the standard of care will be in 5 -10 years.
Dr. Kramer is currently a Vice President at Bristol-Myers Squibb. He is responsible for directing and implementing the R&D’s research efforts aimed at discovering new targets and compounds in these therapeutic areas. Prior to joining Bristol-Myers Squibb, Dr. Kramer was Director of Oncology and Immunology research at Wyeth-Ayerst Research, and department head of the Oncology and Immunology research section at American Cyanamid Co. He also has held the positions of assistant professor of Radiation Therapy at Harvard Medical School and Senior Staff Fellow, Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics, at the National Cancer Institute (NCI). In 1982, Dr. Kramer earned his Ph.D. in Pharmacology from the University of Vermont.
