Current medical treatment is to take the young athlete out of competition for 6 months and sometimes we’ve seen them not return for over a year. This doesn’t have to be reports Dr. Malcolm Conway a sports injury specialist who has been researching, teaching and treating sports injures for over 24 years.
Osgood’s Schlatters Disease (OSD) is a separation of the tibial tuberosity that causes sharp pain in young adults ranging from age 10 to 15. The pain is usually picked up when the young person is involved with some type of sport that activates the pain in the knee area.
If you look a the knee you will most likely see a “bump” below the knee cap that to the touch can send the youngster through the roof with pain. Many athletes and non-athletes as well suffer from agonizing pain from running, jumping, swimming, skating, twisting and even walking.
“Most young children suffering from the pain of OSD don’t have to wait to return to the field, our treatment has been clinically proven to work in a matter of a weeks,” notes Dr. Conway.
The problem with OSD is that the tissue that attaches to the tibial tubercle becomes ‘tugged’ at due to a inability of the quadracep (thigh) muscles to properly absorb the force. When this happens the force is transmitted to the joint and pain and inflammation begin.
Dr. Conway is the co-developer of the MyoFascial Disruption Technique (MFDT) that has been clinically shown to be 95% faster in relieving pain and preventing disability as compared to most treatments being offered today.
Dr. Conway has developed a unique treatment protocol for both OSD and many sports injuries. His methods have cut the time of athletes down time by well over 80%.
Dr. Conway is the head of the Conway Clinic where athletes travel from across the country for his services. “The MFDT treatment protocol is fast enough to turn most athletic injuries around faster than any other treatments that I know about.”
The MFDT treatment has shown to have most athletes seeing pain relief after the very first visit. Once the pain is relieved a series of specialized rehabilitation begins strengthening the muscles to properly absorb force. When this is accomplished the patients are then instructed on a series of exercises that they can do at home. “If they do what we tell them, the pain will not return and they can return to their normal activities,”
Anyone is a candidate for this treatment without being hesitant of any adverse side effects. Once the treatment is completed the athlete can feel safe to know that they can return to their sport and play at 100%. Interested people can find more information at www.osgoodschlattersrelief.com
