In the past, heart rate monitors have been considered cumbersome because of the uncomfortable chest strap placed under the arms and around the chest. A transmitter on the strap is then set at the middle of the chest. In order to assure a connection to a specific ‘wrist watch,’ the user would need to apply a sticky gel substance to adhere it to their chest. With the new technology on the Intervent Heart Rate Monitor, the strap and gel have been removed, eliminating any chance of slips resulting in interference. A light finger strap, or sleeve, with a tiny sensor positioned against the user’s index finger uses blue light LED technology to obtain the user’s heart rate.
“Continuous and accurate measurements are considered to be critical for anyone who wears a monitor, and this new strapless heart rate monitor makes it easier to accurately measure and adjust exercise intensity during physical activity,” says Harald Zundel, an Executive at Inabata. “The monitor also comes with a software program so the wearer can download data to their PC and share it with their physician or some other program services.”
