Sir Moir Lockhead, Chief Executive of FirstGroup plc, is the speaker at the first Institute of Directors (IoD) Aberdeen event for 2009. On Tuesday, February 3, he will be addressing members and guests at a networking lunch in Aberdeen, Scotland.
Sir Moir will talk about the growth of FirstGroup from the buy-out of Grampian Regional Transport to its current position as the world’s leading transport company, with revenues of £6 billion.
Commenting on lunch event, Ken McEwen, an Aberdeen public relations consultant and chairman of IoD Aberdeen, said:
“There could not be a better time to hear from Sir Moir Lockhead about the extraordinary growth of FirstGroup as it celebrated its 20th anniversary just a few days ago. The growth of the business, under Sir Moir and his team, has been most impressive.
“In Aberdeen we are not unused to having world headquarters operations. But, most of them are in the oil and gas sector and on a lesser scale than FirstGroup.
“Sir Moir will be talking to members about the the issues and challenges of growing a non-oil global business with its headquarters here.”
The IoD Aberdeen networking lunch takes place in the Royal Northern and University Club, Albyn Place, Aberdeen starting at 12.15 for 12.30 pm,
