Nellie Sorrell Named Administrator of Splendido Health Center, Sonora

Splendido, a resort-style Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC), has bolstered its assisted living, memory support, and skilled nursing rehabilitation capabilities  by hiring Nellie Sorrell as administrator of Sonora, the community’s health center. Sorrell will report directly to Mark Blazer, executive director of Splendido.

"Splendido is committed to providing the best Ways to Age Well to the greater community,” said Blazer. “Nellie’s insight and management capabilities will ensure we continue to provide top health care for Splendido residents, as well as older adults in Tucson and throughout Arizona.”

As the administrator of Sonora, Sorrell is responsible for management of all day-to-day operations, including developing staff procedures and implementing quality assurance programs to ensure quality care of the residents. She will also oversee the health center’s 60 private suites and apartments dedicated to assisted living, memory support, skilled nursing and rehabilitation, short-term stays, and hospice care.

Sorrell brings more than 20 years of experience in nursing and retirement community management to Splendido and Sonora. Prior to joining the community, she was the administrator of Manor Care Health Services in Tucson. Sorrell has also held administrative positions with Westminster Village in Scottsdale, Arizona and Friendship Village in Tempe, Arizona.

Sorrell received her bachelor’s degree in health care services from the University of Phoenix and her associate’s degree in nursing from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. She is a Registered Nurse, Licensed Nursing Home Administrator, and a Certified Assisted Living Manager.
