Hamden, Connecticut - IRphotonics, a world leader in the design, manufacture, and marketing of Infrared-based materials and systems, announced today it has produced commercial-grade 125 um infrared fiber that has been rated to 100kpsi strength following TIA’s (Telecommunications Industry Alliance) standard test method FOTP-28. This standard calls for the measurement of dynamic strength in tension using a 50cm gauge length, as opposed to the less stringent bending test.
This technological first represents a significant milestone toward the company's goal of enabling next generation infrared optical systems for medical, defense and spectroscopy applications with mechanically robust fibers. It also demonstrates the company’s commitment to meeting customer requirements with leading edge infrared optical fibers.
