The Indie Travel Podcast is pleased to announce their partnership with World Nomads Travel Insurance and Global Vision International (GVI) in the 2009 Travel Podcast Scholarship.
WorldNomads.com will send one exceptional individual on assignment to volunteer on a GVI run project near Antigua in Guatemala. While there the winner will gather stories and recordings for a podcast documentary which will become a feature piece on the Indie Travel Podcast website and will be submitted to a number of international radio programs, podcast channels and partner sites.
Applications close Midnight Sunday April 5, 2009 (Australian Eastern Standard Time). The trip dates are May 15th and May 30th 2009.
Craig Martin, co-producer of the Indie Travel Podcast, said:
"We were thrilled to see the Fred Hollows Foundation benefit from last year's Travel Podcast Scholarship. It's an amazing privilege to be involved in 2009: to distribute the winner's final podcast and play a small part in GVI's programme in Guatemala."
"As full-time travellers we have the chance to see both wealth and poverty first hand. We often feel powerless and unable to help in a meaningful way. Being involved in this Scholarship goes a small way towards helping the San Andres Itzapa and Santa Maria de Jesus communities and raising awareness of local issues."
