Evergreen, CO, – The Swinden Group, through their Severe Weather Advisories, is advising interests and travelers to southern Madagascar of not one, but two tropical cyclones that will affect southern Madagascar over the next 24 to 48 hours.
Tropical Cyclone Eric, with sustained winds of 35 knots, is located off the eastern coast of Madagascar and will weaken while tracking to the south off the coast. This storm should be continue to weaken below cyclone threshold within 24; however the main threat from this system will be flooding rains to the south eastern part of Madagascar.
The second and stronger of the two systems is Tropical Cyclone Fanele, located just off the south western coast of Madagascar in the Mozambique Channel. With sustained winds of up to 65 knots, Tropical Cyclone Fanele is a Category one storm on the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane scale. Fanele is expected to strengthen further before making landfall with sustained winds of near 80 knots and then weaken due to Madagascar’s rugged terrain.
“The main threat from these storms will be flooding rains to southern Madagascar,”
