Holistic Mental Health Expert and Author Richard Brown, M.D. Is Guest on Health Matters Radio with Host Larry Whitler January 22, 2009

Los Angeles, CA -   Richard P. Brown, MD, co-author of the new book How to Use Herbs, Nutrients, and Yoga in Mental Health Care (WW Norton, January 2009), and internationally renowned pioneer of CAM (Complementary and Alternative Medicine), will be interviewed by radio host Larry Whitler, Thursday, January 22, 2009 from 11 to 11:30 a.m. ET on AM Ocala Live’s Health Matters show, WOCA-AM 1370, from Ocala, Florida.   Dr. Brown will discuss his new book, and the benefits of breath, body, and mind practices for mental health during times of stress and economic hardship.

Dr. Brown is Associate Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at Columbia University in New York.   He is a certified teacher of Aikido (4th Dan), Yoga, Qi Gong, and meditation.  Dr. Brown developed a neurophysiological theory on the effects of yoga breath on the mind and body, particularly its benefits for stress, anxiety, depression, and trauma.

Dr. Brown is an expert on holistic approaches to psychiatry, including the use of supplements such as SAM-e and Rhodiola Rosea and mind-body practices.    He co-authored The Rhodiola Revolution and Stop Depression Now.   Dr. Brown maintains a practice in New York City.
