Carlisle Personal Trainer Aims to Stop Obesity in Teens

As obesity numbers continue to climb in our culture, one Carlisle personal trainer is trying to stop it

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release) - Jan 19, 2009 -
Kirk Ream, a Carlisle personal trainer and owner of Transformation Training and Fitness, has decided to do something about the increase in obesity in our youth today.  He is pleased to announce a fitness bootcamp for Carlisle area teens.  The camp is designed to improve the fitness level of our youth and provide education on the importance of living a healthy lifestyle.

"The numbers are unbelievable,"  Ream said.  "Almost 15% of kids are obese and 1 in 3 are overweight.  For the first time in history, it is feared that our childrens' generation will not out live their parents.  That's very sad and very scary!  Something has to be done."

Ream, who recently launched the Get Fit Carlisle fitness bootcamps for local adults, says the goal is to get our kids moving again.  "Our camps will get kids jumping, running, climbing and doing the things that kids should be doing.  Our society encourages too much sitting around.  We want to show our youth how fun it is to be active"

The camps are designed for middle and high school students and will take place after school, two days per week for now.  Although, Ream adds if the need is there, we will add more classes.  "One really cool thing I like about our program is that it is designed to make the kids more active and athletic.  Movements and exercises can be changed and tweaked so that we can train an elite athlete and a relatively sedentary youth right beside each other and both of them will see results.  The athlete will see improvements in speed, power and strength while the sedentary youth will notice a change in energy levels and body fat levels.    It's really for all levels of fitness and we'll match our programming with the needs of our community."

The camps are currently underway and parents could have their kids exercising as soon as possible.  In fact, local youth can try it out free for one week to see if they like it.  "The need is so great, we just wanted to get started.  The program won't be for everyone so we've offered a free trial to let the youth and their parents test the waters before making any commitment.  It's really a win-win for everyone involved.  However, we really feel that once the kids try it out, they'll be hooked."
