With the help of the voting public, a Mason High School art student will be awarded the distinction of designing the logo to be widely used for the Common Ground playground.
More than 70 art students at Mason High School are vying for the title “Artist, Common Ground Logo” in a joint project between the high school and the Mason Parks & Recreation Foundation and the ultimate winner will be chosen in a public vote on the Foundation’s website, to be held January 24-31.
After being approached by the Foundation with help in designing the logo for the playground, Aaron Roberts, head of the Art Department at the high school, assigned his students the logo design project, along with a second project the Foundation requested, a design for the t-shirt and poster that will showcase the Run, Walk, and Roll 5K event the Foundation is staging in Mason on April 4.
The 70+ entries will be finished by January 15 and members of the Cincinnati media have agreed to be judges and narrow the entries down to the Top 20. Then, members of Mason Arts Council and City of Mason officials will narrow the Top 20 to the Top 5. The public is then asked to log onto www.masonparksfoundation.org between January 24-31 and cast a vote for both the logo and t-shirt/poster.
The Mason Parks & Recreation Foundation, a citizen-run, non-profit organization, is raising funds to build Common Ground. Common Ground will be greater Cincinnati’s first "inclusive play experience,"
