Last year, more than 200 Infiniti vehicles ran at Firebird, guests of their dealership, Infiniti of Scottsdale. Some of the cars had multiple drivers, so more than 200 customers participated on the track. All attended ProAutoSports classes, and all had in-car, on-track professional driving coaches. And all left the track members of ASA Racing with a membership card granting admission to hundreds of sanctioned ASA track events every year throughout the USA.
In 2008, IOS Trackdays ran three times - in February, April and October. The Main Firebird Tack and the West Track were both used.
The West Track is tighter, more technical. While top speeds don't reach the triple digits like they do on the Firebird Track, the run is more fun, because the turns are more challenging. It's also the safest Firebird circuit, with wide flat dirt run-offs at every kink in the race surface.
Last year, engineers and manufacturer vehicle test-drivers participated in a limited way. There was a dynamic presentation of the Infiniti electronic stability system, VDC. Infiniti owners got to intentionally spin out their cars, learning the lateral g-force limits of their G35's and FX35's.
In March this year, Infiniti corporate researchers and drivers return, and they'll bring with them surprises for all and sneak-peeks of future Infiniti models.
Last year, the Phoenix ABC broadcasting affiliate, Channel 15 KNXV-TV, came out shot a bunch of tape and did a 90 second spot on the Sunday 5:30 News. Look for more media again at the IOS Trackdays Events this year.
Last year Greg Childs, President of http://www.nicoclub.com, brought his tuned up G35 Coupe and a whole booth full of Nissan/Infiniti enthusiast gear. Greg ran his IOS Infiniti hard, and all in attendance marvelled at the sight and the sound of his supercharged G as he charged around the track.
Infinitiofscottsdale.com provides breakfast and lunch and snack and refreshments throughout the day. There are various side activities, vendor booths, and great music in the pits is provided by Juan Samayoa, a top Service Advisor at the Dealership.
Keep in mind, the whole day is FREE. The track time, the instructors, the meals, the entertainment .... is complimentary.
Must be a catch, right? Well, kinda. The only hitch is that the car on the track is a car from Infiniti of Scottsdale. No Pinnacle cars. No Midway/Peoria Infinitis. No SuperstitionSprings vehicles. I guess when the smoke clears - it is a really great event, great fun, great excitement, great learning experience IF you bought your car at IOS.
