PARKINSON’S DISEASE: STEPPING AHEAD

Annual Parkinson’s Disease Conference

Co-sponsored by University of South Florida and the Parkinson’s Center for Excellence

Tampa Bay, Florida Saturday March 28th 2009

Program Co-chairs, Drs. Juan Sanchez-Ramos and Theresa Zesiewicz

The Parkinson Research Foundation will be presenting a conference to share information about the exciting new Parkinson Center of Excellence at the University of South Florida, and to provide Parkinson’s patients and caregivers in southern Florida with an opportunity to learn about the latest drugs and treatments for Parkinson’s disease that can enhance their lives. A secondary objective is to provide a forum for patients and caregivers to share their concerns and successes with Parkinson’s experts and other local patients.

This 1-day program will have general session presentations throughout the day, an exhibition session during a sponsored luncheon, and question and answer session at the end of the day for full interaction and discussion between participants and speakers.

Topics of this conference will include:

•   Review of Current Pharmacotherapy:  When and How to Treat
•   Dementia Associated with Parkinson’s Disease:  Diagnosis and Current Treatment
•   Do Neuroprotective Agents Really Slow Progression of Disease?    
•   Cell Therapy for Parkinson’s Disease   
•   Advances in Surgery for Parkinson’s Disease
•   The Future of Gene Therapy
