earBuzz announces Same Day Pay
Indie artists paid on music sales in real time with no minimum
San Francisco, Calif. (January 15, 2008) -
earBuzz.com, the indie music retailer that returns 100% of the price of music sales to artists, announces that artists will be paid the same day sales are made for album and song sales on the earBuzz.com site or through the earBuzz Player/widget.
Previously, artists had been paid weekly once sales had totaled over $25. Starting this Monday, January 19th, artists will be paid for all sales that occur before 2pm eastern time the same day by bank draft. There will be no minimum payment. earBuzz has worked out an agreement with its bank services for checks to be sent for as little as 89 cents without charge to the artist or to earBuzz.com.
“We came to the conclusion that we take as much time and go through as much bookkeeping parking artist’s money as we would if we instead just paid on sales as sales arrived.” Reasoned Don Kimenker, founder of earBuzz.com. “Paying artists faster is in the artists’ best interest, hence, the change to Same Day Pay”.
The move makes earBuzz the only major music store that pays artists as music sales occur.
The announcement coincides with news of an exclusive relationship with SamAsh.com naming earBuzz the instrument retailers music sales partner, and the additional announcement of the earBuzz Worldwide Top 10 Distribution Program WWX. The WWX program, powered through a special arrangement with IRIS Distribution, places earBuzz artists’ music on the top-10 music download sites including iTunes Worldwide and nine other music/ringtone sites. Artists receive 100% of the wholesale royalty earBuzz/IRIS receives for those sales and the program cost to artists is the lowest in the industry. See earBuzz News for more details.
