Shi Yuzhu, Chairman and CEO of Giant Interactive announced on January 12, 2009 the launch of "Win@Giant", an online game incubation program. 20% of profit at most will be offered to a team if their games are successful.
The Win@Giant incubation program is open to applicants possessing special expertise and innovative young talents. “We’ll offer supports of fund, technology, team supplement, and nationwide promotion etc for a team which has joined the program”, Shi said.
Shi added that the program will aid a complete team or an individual who has a specific expertise. Win@Giant more focuses on the factor of people. A team or individual possessing talents or expertise in any of the areas of game design, project management, programming, and other specialties related to online games can choose a proper project and give their talents into full play after they join the program. Win@Giant is a long-term strategy for attracting innovative talents of the company and they hope it will help start-ups and the company reach win-win, Shi said.
According to Giant Interactive, this is an enrichment and extension to the “Top quality strategy”. “Top quality is the pinnacle of the pyramid. The pinnacle will be more stable and higher when the base is bigger.”
Mr. Shi says that the plan has been worked out by himself. And he will keep a close touch with start-up companies and individual developers. He will give his opinions and suggestions to them, however, they can make decisions on their own.
