West Glamorgan Archive Service and Swansea Museum are inviting the public to contribute to an exhibition on St David’s Day at the Civic Centre.
The display runs from early February and will feature a range of interesting pictures, art and newspaper clippings relating to St. David’s Day and how it has been celebrated in the City and County of Swansea.
One section of the display will be looking at the wearing of traditional Welsh costume and organisers would like anyone with old photographs of people in traditional Welsh costume from at least 30 years ago to get involved.
Deborah Griffiths from Swansea Museum said “Traditional Welsh costume has always been associated with St. David’s Day and we would like to look at the history of it”
“We are inviting people who have photos of themselves, relatives and ancestors in Welsh costume taken before 1979 to contribute”.
Anybody who wishes to contribute can either scan their picture in and email it to swansea.museum@
For further information, telephone West Glamorgan Archive Service on 01792 636589.
The exhibition is part of a series of events celebrating St David’s Week in Swansea. For more information on other events and activities, visit http://www.saintdavidsday.com.
