Timecrunched Masses Eat Cookies For Breakfast

Bella’s Cookies, an organic cookie company in Milton, DE., is baking a new line of vegan cookies called Breakfast Cookies. Billed as healthy meal replacers, the cookies are something those starved for time (and breakfast) can enjoy guilt-free.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release) - Jan 14, 2009 -
This week, Bella's Cookies formally introduced another new line of cookies, “Breakfast Cookies.”  Their breakfast line is vegan by design, meaning made and baked with “no eggs or dairy” and also serves as a healthy meal replacement.  With more consumers looking for healthy food options this year, Bella's breakfast line fits the waistline, nicely.

Each year, people make their New Year's resolutions; many the same as they made the previous year -- take better care of yourself, exercise more, and eat a healthier diet.  As a time starved society however, the reality is that “we abandon resolutions about a month and a half into each New Year, settling back into a sedentary lifestyle consisting of microwaved frozen dinners or fast food,” said Kelly Leishear (president of Bella’s Cookies).  “We wanted to create a healthy cookie, because people are extremely crunched for time.”  Kelly Leishear created the “Breakfast Cookie” as a healthy meal replacer for her children, who often devoured on their way to pre-school.  "Our children didn’t want breakfast when it was time for breakfast, and when it was time for school, 5 minutes into the trip -- everyone was suddenly hungry."  The idea of a cookie that could be eaten for breakfast was welcomed by her children and soon thereafter the "Breakfast Cookie" was born.

Two cookies have debuted under Bella's Cookies "Breakfast" line: a Pumpkin-Cranberry cookie, and a Raisin Spice cookie.  The cookies are sold in double packs for $3.99, with 1 cookie as the recommended serving.  Each cookie weighs 2.65 oz, has 240 calories, 5-6 grams of protein, 4-5 grams of fiber, and is naturally rich in vitamin & mineral content.  According to current FDA guidelines, Bella’s Pumpkin Cranberry Breakfast Cookie serves as an “excellent source” for fiber and Vitamin A, a “good source” for Vitamin B1, Iron, Copper, Magnesium, Phosphorus, and Zinc and is labeled “cholesterol free” and contains no trans fats.  Bella’s Breakfast Cookies are easily to identify as there is no picture of “Bella” on the breakfast cookie tag.  Bella’s traditional cookies have a differing themed picture to each tag, with Bella often dressed as the lead character of a creative “cookie” story written and posted on their website.

“For anyone wanting to get their New Year off a great start, Breakfast cookies are one of the best foods you could eat.  And they’re not just eaten for breakfast… breakfast cookies are something to eat when later in the day, the craving for “something” comes on.  Doing this alone can easily assist in controlling and loosing unwanted weight.”
