Extreme and action sports social networking site and service Atomic Insanity has just launched and has a wide array of features to its site, some of which include profile creation and questionnaire, custom member URL's, blogging capabilities, forums, contests, video gallery and submission, and more.
Atomic Insanity is an extreme sports community for athletes and enthusiasts looking to network, compete, share videos, pictures, and experiences with each other. Atomic Insanity boasts to be "The Webs' Most Comprehensive Extreme and Action Sports Community." There are of course and as always, naysayers.
Atomic Insanity founder Michael Price backs up the claim by saying, "We believe we're the best. Not because we have technology that exceeds anyone else's, or because our site has more features. We believe we're the best and most comprehensive because of the environment we've created as a company, as a team, and as a community. We believe in community to our core, and to us community is all about your representation and involvement. As a company, staff, and team we're not 50 year old corporate execs trying to exploit the market of youth and extreme sports. We're a group of 20 somethings who love extreme sports and feel there's a huge piece of the puzzle missing amongst athletes and enthusiasts. We believe Atomic Insanity is the piece of the puzzle that puts everything together."
Atomic Insanity has all of the typical features of almost any main stream social networking community such as Myspace or Youtube. However, Atomic Insanity doesn't like to pride themselves as being a social networking site based on quantity. They base the site on quality. Before production and development began, Atomic Insanity founder Michael Price spoke with extreme sports athletes and enthusiasts to discuss what features they believed would make Atomic Insanity a place they would enjoy. With the aid of those spoken to, the general framework was put into place. Michael and his production team then went to work on developing key components of Atomic Insanity's features and placing detail in the quality of basic functions versus the quantity and abundance of features.
While Atomic Insanity has emphasized quality over quantity, there are still some bits and pieces that need fine tuning. There is also more features that need to be developed. Michael Price comments by saying, "As we embrace our desire to work at a slower pace to emphasize quality, we have to also kick things up a notch. We're reminded everyday that we're new to the web and are still in our infancy, so we must continue to release more features and focus on development at a higher pace.
Some of the new features to be released in the Spring are html enabled blogging, html customizable profile pages, enhanced private chat features, polls, and high-prize contests.
