John Banting who is based in the UK, has been recording and performing for over 20 years as a studio musician and has toured across Europe and the Middle East with various bands. He has also been a regular session musician for mainstream UK television companies BBC and ITV. More recently, John has become involved in composition, aimed squarely at music suitable for film makers and game publishers.
“I came across John’s music on an on-line composers’ forum and immediately identified with his style of music” said Craig Hopkinson, soundwrx Creative Director. “His originality and level of production impressed me greatly and I was delighted to find he was in the market for collaborative projects. Initially, we worked on a re-mix together and that confirmed for me we were both on the same wave-length. I wasted no time in getting the contracts signed up!”
John Banting concurs: “Craig’s approach to composition and attention to production were the first things I noticed. We met on-line and liked each others material. We come from different musical backgrounds - Craig is better versed in electronica whilst I have a history of more traditional song-writing, melodic and orchestral output. Pooling resources will often generate unanticipated results. A collaborating partner can come up with a direction, an idea, or even a chord that you wouldn't necessarily have thought of; it generates many more possibilities.”
Craig and John are currently working together on EATcha Tribe’s follow up to ‘Radio China’. An EP is due to be released before the end of January 2009.
