Debatepedia completes world’s best pro/con article on Israel’s strikes in Gaza

Debatepedia launched its pro/con article on the back of one of the largest global public debates the world has ever seen, in which thousands of pro and con opinion pieces and editorials have been written in newspapers, magazines, and journals around the world regarding Israel’s assault in Gaza. So far, Debatepedia has taken some of the most prominent 20 pro and 20 con editorial and opinion pieces and drawn from them 58 unique pro and con arguments, each with between one and ten supporting quotations from the 40 editorial and opinion pieces.
In the coming weeks, Debatepedia’s community hopes to expand the articles it uses from 40 to 80, further outlining the arguments that divide the two opposing camps in this global debate.  It also hopes that, by outlining these arguments, the world can come to better understand the legitimate concerns of both sides, the less legitimate arguments on both sides, and the areas for potential compromise in breaking the cycle of violence that has plagued the region for nearly a century.
Debatepedia is basically “the Wikipedia of debates”, a global wiki encyclopedia of public debates, pro and con arguments, and supporting quotations. It aims to engage citizen-editors in centralizing original arguments - as well as arguments and quotations found in millions articles, essays, and books - into a single encyclopedia. This helps citizens and leaders better “weigh” the pros and cons in important public debates and make decisions. Debatepedia’s editors feel this is particularly important in regards to the debate on Israel’s military strikes in Gaza, which affects us all.
