The Pine Avenue Restoration Project Story: It has been said, "The 'Pine Avenue Restoration Project' will redefine Anna Maria's historic Pine Ave. strip to its glory days of the early 1900's. A good portion of Pine Avenue will be changed forever, to encompass a mixture of both residential and retail accommodations.
Once the project is completed, you'll be able to have dinner at the Sandbar Restaurant, or an ice cream at Two Scoops, then enjoy a relaxing stroll along Pine avenue, window shopping the many boutique shops to be added during the next 3-5 years."

Redefining the City of Anna Maria: According to one local Anna Maria resident, "The shear size of the project is mind blowing and will redefine the city of Anna Maria. The Pine Avenue Restoration project will provide an old neighborhood feel we all yearn for and an added destination for Anna Maria Island visitors to enjoy."
"Led by Mike Coleman and Ed Chiles, the project is sure to succeed and provide a ton of walk around boutique shops on Anna Maria Island, similar to Sarasota's St. Armand's circle, but further along Anna Maria Island's Old Florida tradition."
Pine Avenue History - It was in 1911 that original development on Anna Maria was sparked by construction of what's now known as the City Pier, built at the foot of Pine Avenue. In its promotional material the Anna Maria Beach Development Company encouraged the multitudes to come to Anna Maria Beach, "the most attractive of all of Florida's island resorts," and beckoned folks to "visit the beach… destined to become …the greatest year-round resort city in Florida."
Just as in 1911, when the Anna Maria Beach Development Company encouraged visitors to ride the steamer to the City Pier and promenade down Pine Avenue to the Bath House (where the Sandbar Restaurant sits today), the Pine Avenue Restoration Project vision is to re-create that Pine Avenue promenade and preserve a little bit of Old Florida for future generations to enjoy.
This announcement has been put up by the good folks at Anna Maria Island Life.
