J Roland Kelly is an American screenwriter and sometimes indie musician currently based in South America. He has chosen President Obama’s inauguration day to release his new politically charged single J Roland Kelly Marshals Against Karl Rove for Osipa Media.
The song represents his first single release to date, as he has preferred the concept album format for his two previous releases: 2006’s J Roland Kelly, Stop Your Nursing Unless You Are Rendering Fun and early 2008’s J Roland Kelly Taunts the Process …into Attacking.
His first single is a departure from his previous two albums in that it contains a lot more varied instrumentation, mostly complicated string arrangements, and church organs which are really virtual MIDI instruments being controlled with his trusty Ecuadorian handmade acoustic guitar.
“I wanted to release something as a single, which is a format …with which I have never really experimented, and I wanted to see what kind of trouble I could get into by writing a contemporary political song,” said J Roland Kelly.
