Publishing House Research (PHR), the outsourcing option for research in the publishing industry, has posted on its blog interviews with the world leaders in library science. Visitors to the PHR website can read interviews with: Dr. James Billington, Librarian of Congress; Dr. Deanna Marcum, Associate Librarian for Library Services at The Library of Congress; Dame Lynne Brindley, Director of The British Library.
PHR’s Director Steve Greechie interviewed each of these leaders and discussed topics ranging from intellectual property and digitization to preservation and – to use Dr. Billington’s phrase – “the culture of the book”.
“Library science will be the most dynamic field of the 21st century,” according to Mr. Greechie. “Only genetic engineering can compare in importance and potential. The leaders in the library world have been so generous with their time in talking to me. These discussions clarify so many issues.”
As the Director of The British Library says in the online interview: "There's probably never been a more interesting time to be thinking about what great libraries are - and where they're going."
The interviews are available on the Publishing House Research website:
