Barack Obama is sworn in to office in January and there will no doubt be a new swathe of viral advertising created around his persona, but what with George W Bush's many bloopers and the Iraq war the Internet might just be a quieter place without him and for many satirists and comedians someone they'll come to miss.
President Bush has been the most posted, blogged, mimicked and talked person about on the Internet in the past 8 years of office. Thousands of sites worldwide have covered his highs and lows and indeed between his two terms there have been many venerable news moments.
Barack Obama led the Internet's largest online advertising and pr offensive to-date and it will be interesting to see how his administration uses this media and what rules if any they put on it in the future.
The massive increase of social media websites like Facebook, MySpace, YouTube, Digg, Stumbleupon and Twitter have enabled viral opportunities to grow faster and faster. Where once the only word of mouth solution online was email, the change in the tools of the internet has enabled the public to become publishers with little or no experience and skill and broadcast their work and thoughts to the populous of the world and even beyond.
