The Sunday School Publishing Board of the National Baptist Convention, USA, Inc. held the organization's annual Christian Education Conference November 30- December 5, 2008 at The Baptist World Center, 1700 World Center Drive in Nashville. The theme for the 2008 Conference was: "To Serve This Present Age: A Relevant Church for Contemporary Society." According to the Executive Director of the Sunday School Publishing Board, Dr. Kelly Miller Smith, Jr., this theme was chosen to remind the church of its obligation to help foster a religious community that meets the needs of all people. Yet with this being true we must also understand that they can be, even must be different approaches to still affirm this. We dont have to change our faith principle. We just need to consider a change to our approach to the principle."
Some of the lecture topics to be dealt with during the conference include: "New Wine Skins for a New Day" by Dr. Feddie Haynes, "A Revolution (Needs to Happen) in the House "by Dr. Kevin Cosby, and "Singing the Lord's Song in a Strange Land" by Dr. Geoffrey Guns.Sermons were delivered by the Coventions president Dr. William J Shaw and the conventions Vice President at Large Dr. Julius Scruggs. In addition to these and other lectures, there were seminars and workshops for church leaders, teachers, and potential writers. Special musical presentations were also provided.
