A Dutch energy company has been blown in the right direction and launched a UK office in the heart of Warwickshire.

Eneco New Energy from Rotterdam, which develops and acquires wind farms, has expanded into the UK and set-up its office at the University of Warwick Science Park’s Warwick Innovation Centre.

With the recent acquisition of its first 18 Megawatt UK wind farm in Aberdeen, Eneco Wind UK Ltd intends to develop at least another 150 Megawatts of energy in the next three to four years by developing and acquiring further wind farms across the country.

This is the first Eneco office in the UK and manager, Guy Madgwick, hopes that Eneco Wind UK Ltd will attract experienced professionals to the organisation, growing a multi-talented team from the Warwick office.

“We chose The Warwick Innovation Centre primarily because when we were looking at offices available in the area, this one just felt right,” he said.

“It is ideally located for our future plans of expanding the workforce, as the area has the right skills set that suits our company for recruiting.

“And with such a central location, commuting to cities such as Birmingham and London isn’t a problem.

“We received a huge amount of help from the staff at the Innovation Centre when we moved in and they’ve all been extremely helpful.

“Moving here was very appealing, not just for location but it had a hassle-free factor that other offices didn’t – the lease was simple and the whole process was very easy to set-up.”

Eneco, which employs 5,000 people in Holland was established in 1995 from the amalgamation of several municipal energy companies, and has its head office and business units in Rotterdam.

Innovation Centre manager, John Barnes, said: “We are very pleased to welcome Eneco Wind UK to Warwickshire, and it’s great that they have chosen the Innovation Centre over other offices in the UK.

“We hope that we will be able to provide support and advice to the Eneco team as they look to expand their UK office, and develop further wind farms throughout the country.”
