Ecodrive Technology Previews Next Generation Zero Emission Limited Speed Electric Motorcycles

Ecodrive Technology Group Inc. today unveiled the next generation of zero emission, all electric limited speed motorcycles powered by advanced lithium polymer batteries. Committed to the corporate mandate to carry out the zero environment impact business plan, Ecodrive maintains a forward thinking attitude to greener living by developing and supplying cutting-edge electric vehicles for on-road use. In the Spring of 2009, Ecodrive will offer the world’s first DOT/CMVSS compliant, commercially available lithium powered all-electric limited speed motorcycles to the general public.

Ecodrive’s all electric, next generation lithium powered Vehicles will debut for the first time in Canada in the Green Zone, at the 2009 Montreal Auto Show from January 16 to 25. The exhibit is hosted by EcoMoto, of Montreal, one of the largest growing network of Ecodrive distributors.

SLICBOX Technology, short for scalable lithium-ion concept, is the advanced battery technology that is incorporated into the Ecodrive line of future vehicles.  SLICBOX provides superior performance, reliability, safety, versatility and cost competitiveness, as compared to batteries of other chemistries. Its compact configuration delivers up to 2-3 times the electric power compared to other battery configurations. This compact battery system also allows for scalability, improved vehicle weight handling and extended range capability. Other features of this powertrain are the robust 1.5 to 3.0 kW electric hubmotors, and the customized controller – the heart of the drive system, which is optimized for vehicle performance and power efficiency.

Ecodrive vehicles are equipped with either the 30 or 40Ah SLICBOX Drive configurations. Both of these options offer identical hardware configurations except for the varying battery capacities. The 30Ah system provides a range of up to 50Km at 60Km/Hr, while the 40Ah system would offer up to 70Km at 60Km/Hr.
