SubHub, one of the world’s leading membership website solutions providers, announced today that it would provide a “rescue package” to customers of the now-shuttered vTribes service.
SubHub’s vTribes Rescue Package enables existing vTribes customers to transfer their sites to the SubHub platform for just $49/month, a reduction of 50% on the normal SubHub rate. The fee includes hosting. SubHub has guaranteed that this price will not rise for the duration of the contract.
vTribes suddenly announced late last month that it would no longer accept new clients, and that all existing clients would be required to download an open source copy of the vTribes software by the end of January if they want to keep their sites working. The software and clients stopped being supported with immediate effect.
This is a devastating blow for the hundreds of individuals and companies who have built their businesses on the vTribes platform, also known as Visiongate. Installing open source software is not a challenge that many of them are prepared to deal with.
Miles Galliford, co-founder of SubHub said “This is a very worrying time for people who are hosting their websites with vTribes. Such a huge amount of time and effort goes into launching and growing a website. To be given just 30 days to find an alternative service is a cruel blow. With our vTribes Rescue Package, we hope that we can help make this transition as painless as possible.”
