Rap Group The Ashy L Bowz win a Second Annual U.N.I. Award !

PR Log (Press Release) – Dec 28, 2008 – The second annual Unsigned and Independent Awards are the brain child of legendary Underground Showcase  DJ Ace of Spades and Music Notes Magazine.  The awards have several categories honoring Unsigned and Underground Hip Hop and R&B artists including Artist of the Year, Album of the year and Underground DJ of the Year. This year a new category was added, Best Gimmick.  Gimmick as explained by Ace of Spades himself is "Not in the bad sense of the word. Gimmick as in when you are announced to the stage to perform people are already wondering who you are, and when you are able to tie that in with great music, showmanship and marketing to increase your fan base.And no one exemplified that better this year than the Ashy L Bowz".

Having released their debut album No Lotion on Ash Wednesday of 2008, which features Donnell "Ashy Larry" Rawlings from the Dave Chappelle show. The Ashy L Bowz  have proven they take being ashy seriously, and shown that they are willing to take the risk to be different and make converts out of non believers wit dynamic music. The U.N.I. ceremony itself was held at the Bowery Poetry Club hosted by Ace and DJ'd by up and comer Music Mystro. It was  attended by many underground heavyweights such as the likes of Sic Osyrus, Clap Cognac, DJ Drawzilla, Sinsay DJ Bedtyme 357 Miss Nana, Cortez of Murder Ave and others, as well as underground stations and publications Drahma and Protege Magazine Get Ryte TV, Top of the Building TV and Shades Radio.
