The National Association of Home Builders’ (NAHB) 50+ Housing Council and AIPatHome.com (Age-In-Place at Home) have agreed to collaborate in an online exhibition of 50+ homes and livable communities to increase consumer awareness of the wide range of housing options available to boomers and beyond.
The online exhibition will feature an exclusive display of the honorees in NAHB’s 2009 Best of 50+ Housing Awards Program, including the top winners in more than 20 categories for active adult and service-enriched housing.
“NAHB's Best of 50+ Housing Awards are considered the most prestigious national honor for excellence in building, design, and marketing of housing for the mature demographic,”
“The online exhibit will attract worldwide interest as 50 + housing and related products are becoming a global issue,” predicted Meres McCarroll, president of AIPatHome.com “There are 76 million people in the U.S. that were born between 1946-1964 and 450 million people born worldwide during the same period. “
Using text, images and video, the Exhibition and companion online directory will assist those searching for new homes by showing the best age-in-place solutions for themselves or their loved ones. It will illustrate architectural design trends for the 50+ market along with interior designs, furnishings, kitchen & bath features, smart home technologies, and more. In addition to a broad consumer audience, the web site also will benefit and recognize age in place specialists, developers, architects, builders, interior designers and other housing related professionals.
Each showcase of the NAHB award winners, including furnished model homes, will be linked to the online AIP Business Pages so visitors can easily locate the products and services they need. All 2009 Best of 50+ Housing Award winners will be on display for a full year.
McCarroll said a preview exhibit featuring some of the 2008 BOSHA winners will be on display at AIPatHome.com in January 2009. Also shown will be aging in place alternatives that include active adult communities, lifestyle communities and more traditional senior housing.
