Lloyd Pro Group Employees Make a Difference with Gwinnett School's Mentor Program
     
 Duluth, GA, (Lloyd Pro Group) Wednesday, December 17, 2008 -Lloyd Pro Group was one among eight businesses in the Gwinnett County community honored this morning for their participation in Radloff Middle School's award winning Mentor Program.

 Pam Webb, Radloff's Mentoring Coordinator says that she has over 130 mentors but needs more. "I have a waiting list for students who have requested assistance with their school work," says Pam. Pam's challenge is finding businesses in the area that are flexible enough to allow their employees to take one hour a week to work with a student. Mentors are paired up with a student to help them with math, reading, and any other school work they may have difficulty with.
 


 
 "Many of these children's parents work two jobs and do not have the time or resources to help with school work. We have many motivated and talented students at this school who do not speak English at home and unfortunately, this sets them behind at school," says Pam. Radloff Middle School has been very successful with their Mentor Program. They have won the national "Best Practices" award two years in a row and they serve as a model for other schools in the area that plan to start their own mentor programs.
 
 Lloyd Pro Group currently has nine employees that mentor a student weekly during their lunch break. Brandy Swanson, COO of Lloyd Pro Group learned about the program through a presentation at the Gwinnett Rotary Club. A Rotarian for 15 years, she saw the concept as an opportunity to help the community. "These kids are our future. I just thought that as a company it was a small sacrifice to make - yet, as individuals we could make a big difference," says Brandy. According to the employees at Lloyd Pro Group, the experience has been very rewarding and is often the highlight of their busy day.
