Khammouane provincial governor Khambai Damlath presented Christophe Maurel, outgoing NTPC Chief Operations Officer, with one of the country’s highest honours, the Labour Medal, on December 12 in Thakhek. Mr Khambai said the medal was given in thanks for Mr Maurel’s outstanding contribution to socio-economic development and environmental protection in the Lao PDR.
The governor also presented Dr Surinder Kaul from the NTPC Public Health Management Unit, with a merit certificate to acknowledge his hard work in improving health services and management across the Nam Theun 2 project areas.
Mr Khambai said the awards to NTPC staff were ordered by the prime minister and reflected the importance of the project to the country, and to the people of Khammouane in particular.
