Dec. 20, 2008 - PRLog -- Nearly 1/3 of the entire American population is overweight and faces serious health concerns. Over 24 million Americans suffer from heart disease!  An additional 21 million Americans have Diabetes and 54 million more Americans have pre-diabetic conditions. Americans need easy to understand health guidance without all the academic doublespeak, and The No Bull Book on Heart Disease answers that call.
No Bull is a plain talk, one-of-a-kind practical guide to heart disease written by board certified cardiologist, Joel Okner, M.D., and Jeremy Clorfene, Ph.D., a clinical psychologist who specializes in working specifically with heart patients.
“We believe the only truly effective way to treat people with heart disease is through an integrative approach,” says Dr. Clorfene. “Its one thing to have a top doctor perform an intricate procedure to save a patient’s life, it’s quite another to convince them that much of his/her trouble is something they are in control of.”
Dr. Okner adds, “By assisting our patients to alter their behavior and lifestyle, many diseases can be slowed down or even reversed.  It is this in-the-trenches approach to treatment that forms the basis of No Bull, addressing every critical cardiac topic from the heart patient’s point of view.”
No Bull offers unprecedented insight into often-neglected aspects of the disease such as the role a patient’s spouse and family play in recovery and what women should be aware of in the diagnostic phase of their treatment. The book features workable motivational tools and an effective treatment model to help patients make important lifestyle changes to get better, stay better, and avoid invasive and expensive procedures in the future.
No Bull is written to reach the millions of people who have heart disease in addition to all those that have the critical risk factors: diabetes, obesity, smoking, stress, and sleep deprivation. Drs. Okner and Clorfene’s clinical approach is proven through their own practice. Their patient’s heal because of their comprehensive medical, behavioral and psychological protocol of treatment.
