In today’s market, sellers have to enhance their homes to compete with the other homes in their area on the market. Home staging is a trend that started in the last decade and has not slowed down since.

Home staging is a selling technique on the rise. Homeowners may be reticent to hire someone to enter their homes and stage their homes to increase the neutrality, but this method is a proven, and increasingly necessary tool to sell your home, and get a good return, especially in today’s market.

“The U.S. Housing and Urban Development reports that a staged home will sell, on average, for a 17 percent higher price than an un-staged home.” Additionally, “In a 2007 Home Gain Survey of more than 2,000 realtors, sellers who spent typically $500 on staging services for their home recovered over 343% of the cost in the sale of their home.” – Tina Vervoorn, American Chronicle.

With the industry being noticed more and more, people wanting to get involved are turning to top professional training companies such as Interior Arrangements, run by owner Sandy Dixon. Sandy has been in the real-estate industry for 20 years and thrived based on her passion to help others and drive for success. Many other training companies are trying to jump on a similar bandwagon, but for now, Interior Arrangements remains on the leading edge of this industry.

The abundance of television shows centering on home staging displays the success of this field.  These shows focus on reducing seller’s “custom” features such as bright paint colors, misplaced or outdated furniture, and specifically attempt to reduce the aggregate clutter--books, picture frames, and knick-knacks—that homeowners accumulate. This overall approach changes the feel of the home and allows buyers to envision themselves living there.

One client noted the difficulty with turning her house over to a stager, “‘I had to sleep on it,’ Love said. ‘I thought I was a decent decorator. I got a little emotional turning the creative control over to someone else. But I realized I'm not selling myself; I'm selling a house After Love made the move to hire the home stager, she reminisced “‘All I could hear (at the open house) was, ‘Wow, this is beautiful,’” she recalled. "The kinds of things I was hearing made me know for sure, without a doubt, that this was absolutely the right decision.’” - The Associated Press

Home staging brings out the best of any environment. Countless sellers have used this technique with success, and the popularity of the trend demonstrates this.
