Dec. 19, 2008 - PRLog -- The Tennessee Chapter of Meeting Professionals International (MPI) recently designated the proceeds from its holiday party to the MPI Foundation. The Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum played host to the event on December 17 which featured entertainment by award winning songwriter and MPI member Billy Kirsch.

Over the past twenty-nine years of the Tennessee Chapter’s history, the foundation has provided thousands of dollars in educational grants to Tennessee meeting and event professionals. Additionally, the foundation is offering scholarships to individual unemployed members to aid them in continuing their involvement in the organization.

"Holiday celebrations create an opportunity for organizations like Meeting Professionals International (MPI) to celebrate our community," said Don England, president of the Tennessee Chapter of MPI. "We are able to commemorate the successes of the previous year and look forward to new challenges and opportunities that all professions face in our current economy.  Enjoying festive events with business colleagues enables us to get outside of our typical perimeters and allows new creative energy that could result in new directions and business! By donating the proceeds to the MPI Foundation, we will strengthen Tennessee’s community of meeting and event professionals. "

Globally, the MPI Foundation has raised more than $13 million and re-invested those funds into relevant programming, projects and services, which benefit the global meetings and events industry. Events such as the Tennessee MPI Holiday Party help to provide the funding for the MPI Foundation. Last year, the foundation invested nearly $1.7 million at the industry, chapter and individual levels through grants, scholarships and major research projects. The MPI Foundation’s efforts focus on three areas: giving, research, and education.
