The main aim for Mallory Park is to develop a motorsport and outdoor leisure facility in an environmentally and community friendly nature and that is why it needs the support of the local community.
General maintenance to the venue will be the priority now to improve facilities for both the public who visit and for local residents. The landscaping has been completed and work will now start on a new embankment to improve on noise insulation. Development of the Country Park is continuing and will be a big boost to both the environment and the local community.
One of Mallory Park’s aims is to encourage more people into the Borough and with that in mind the World Motocross will return with huge crowds expected. The ever popular Bennetts British Superbikes will return as well as the Post TT Motorcycle race and the Festival of a 1000 bikes, all of which attract large crowds.
Proposed events like trade shows and winter motorsports will encourage people to keep visiting the Borough all year round. Mallory Park has just recently had a caravan site approved by the Council so that will allow for more visitors to stay at the location for weekend events.
Mallory Park is well known for its motorcycling endeavours but not so well known for its cycling events something which it hopes to change for 2009. The local Leicester Cycling Club uses the venue on a regular basis every Tuesday and Thursday night for training sessions as it is a safe place to train especially during the dark winter nights.
The British Youth Cycling squad use Mallory Park for a number of meetings during the season and it is hoped that it will become a training ground for cyclists involved in the 2012 Olympics.
