Dec. 18, 2008 - PRLog -- Pocono Mountains Regional Emergency Services Training Academy (PMRESTA) announces a National Registry Emergency Vehicle Operations - Ambulance Course.

The course will be conducted in the Tafton area on January 7, 10 & 11, 2009 with a date for field-testing to be announced. This course is open to all responders wishing to obtain their EVOC Certification.  The cost is $75.00. Pre-registration is required.

This National Standard curriculum 1995 edition EVOC - Ambulance US Department of Transportation course covers the basic knowledge required for ambulance operators including the legal aspects of ambulance communication, ambulance types and safety considerations. Ambulance inspections, maintenance, repair, navigation and route planning, basic maneuvers and normal operation situations, operations in emergency mode and unusual situations, safety and special considerations, the run preparations and operations, hand signals for traffic control, emergency vehicle and equipment check lists, demonstrations and practice of operations. Certification is for a National Certification for Ambulance Operator.
