Dec. 17, 2008 - PRLog -- (TWS PR FIRM) The Joy of Connecting, a national women’s networking organization headquartered in Atlanta, is sponsoring the home renovation of the Katz Family in Buckhead with their philanthropic project, “24/7Project Pay it Forward”.

As a celebration of “The Joy of Connecting’s”  6th anniversary in August of this year, CEO and Founder, Bonnie Ross-Parker decided this would be a great way to help a sister in need. Ross-Parker shares, Linda Katz is a very good friend of mine as well as a member of “The Joy of Connecting”.  After hearing her story and seeing first hand the strength and courage it takes for her to raise a quadriplegic and blind 15-year-old with an active eight year old as a single mother, I was moved to help her. It’s not often that any of us have the privilege of making an extraordinary difference in the life of someone else and this was our opportunity to help.”

“24/7Project Pay It Forward” kicked off with a round of celebrity endorsements, supporters and sponsors determined to help make this renovation project a welcoming reality for Linda and her family.  Linda Katz, the single mother of two wonderful daughters has the unique challenge of caring for the needs of a 15-year old quadriplegic (since birth) without adequate space and equipment in her home.  Although she lives in a modest home in the Brookhaven Community, her disabled daughter resides on the first level where there’s only a powder room. For the past five years, she’s only been able to sponge bathe her daughter as she’s too heavy for Linda to physically carry. This poses a serious health issue.  The unveiling of the renovations for the Katz home was set for Thanksgiving; however with economic challenges looming over confirmed and would-be sponsors, the project was stalled.

Challise & Co., a Marietta-based salon and spa and partner of “The Joy of Connecting” stepped up to the plate and held a one day “Hair-cut-a-Thon” Every stylist donated their time and talents and gave each dollar made to this cause.  The result, a check in the amount of $1600 was given to “24/7 Project Pay it Forward”.  Bonnie exclaims, “I was overjoyed and very grateful to Challise and Company for their generosity despite the economic turmoil.  They’ve been our biggest sponsor to date and have out-shown Fortune 500 would-be sponsors that simply couldn’t commit”.

Although delayed a bit, “24/7 Project Pay It Forward” continues on with an expected full build-out of the downstairs powder room that will be converted into a full ADA approved bath and an extension of the living room to serve as a fully equipped room for Linda’s daughter Emily.  “At present, Emily and all of her equipment extends from the dining room into the living room, which makes it hard to entertain and have company.”  Linda explains, “By extending the living room, Emily has her own space, we get our dining room back and maybe I can consider the thought of entertaining again! We’re very excited by the progress.”

To date sponsors of 24/7 Project Pay It Forward includes:
