National Hole-In-One Association has been collecting hole-in-one stories for nearly thirty years. This story came to us back in 1989, we'd like to share with you during this holiday season.
Dear Sirs,
I am not sure if this qualifies as an unusual "hole-in-one"
As a Catholic Priest, I have often heard the joke about the priest who got a hole-in-one and couldn't tell anyone because it was on Saturday and he was supposed to be hearing confessions and sneaked out to play golf instead. My hole-in-one is somewhat akin to that story!
I am the Catholic Chaplain at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. Every Sunday I celebrate Mass (have services) for the patients and staff at 12 noon. However, on Sunday September 24, 1989 I decided to play in the Club Championship at Mountain View Golf Course.
Even though I had told the staff weeks in advace that I would not be present for Mass, I felt a little guilty. Every time I hit a bad shot, I just KNEW God was telling me I should be attending to my duties. Then I would hit a good shot and I HOPED He was saying it was really alright! I played the entire round with a sort of He loves me, He loves me not" feeling. Finally on the very last hole, a 130 yard par three, I got the hole-in-one.
I guess the answer was "HE LOVES ME"
