So Hot, it Should be Criminal.
So Hot, it Should be Criminal.
PRLog (Press Release) - Dec 15, 2008 -
In our culture, the term "Felony" means a crime, a violation of law, a sin of man's rule. However, in Michael Dixon's office, it symbolizes beauty, scantily clad women and lust. Michael is the Executive Editor of Felony Magazine, a publication devoted to promoting the female model – where their motto is 'So hot, it should be Criminal'.
Michael started Felony eight years ago, with just $800 in his pocket in response to a plea for help from a friend who had been ripped off by a "modeling school", who had taken her money and given her a few dreadful, unusable pictures in return.
After helping her, he found she had many other acquaintances with the same sad story to tell, and his business grew from what was once a one-man photography studio, into the magazine it is today with an impressive roster of 10 staff photographers, 25+ associate photographers, writers, artists, editors, journalists and various other support positions throughout the country.
"My staff travels all over the country", Dixon says, proud of the fact that the photo shoots they hold are at no cost to the model. “Looking for the next potential ‘It’ girl and showcasing the talent we uncover to a worldwide audience through our magazine is what we do, is what we love."
The Felony staff work hard to make sure the aspiring models have all the tools they need to help them succeed in a difficult and often cut-throat industry. The staffers host informational "how-to” seminars, covering everything from hair and makeup and posing tips to classes on how to avoid the many pitfalls and scams that exist in the modeling industry.
"The Felony brand has now expanded to include many aspects of the modeling industry" Michael notes, "from staffing and producing to management and I'm even in negotiations to purchase an indie record label."
But Felony's main purpose continues to be exposure and education for the upcoming models. Felony allows advertisers access to the back end of their model registry, so they may review the portfolios and hire the hottest talent.  The company takes no referral or finder's fee of any kind from the young ladies, even when they get jobs as a result of the exposure.
In the end, Michael and his staff just love what they do, and there a lot of grateful young models who have benefited from their wisdom and dedication – but there's still many more to be discovered. And the Felony crew will be out there looking!
