With the proliferation of the new tech devices this holiday season, more and more people are trusting their lives to cell phones and GPS units. We are also hearing and reading more stories where this dependence has resulted in disaster. Police, Search and Rescue, and health authorities are increasing warnings to people not to fully rely on these devices when going out alone. SafeCheckin.com has information on the route taken, the vehicle used, what the member was wearing, any others with them, and critical medical information thus creating an” event”. When they “check out” SafeCheckIn will monitor their event until the member “checks in” again. If the member is overdue then SafeCheckIn will attempt to contact the member to update their status. If SafeCheckIn cannot reach the member, we then contact the people that the member has designated as emergency contacts with the local authorities as being contacts of last resort. With more of us living alone and away from family, more individuals going out alone and do not have anyone to tell where they are going or when they expect to return. Nobody is waiting for you in case something goes wrong. Now anyone can have someone waiting to make sure they come back safely and as a backup for cell phones and GPS units. If you rely on your cell phone or a GPS unit when out alone you still need a backup. This is what SafeCheckIn.com is designed to do…reliably and privately. Even if you have systems like OnStar or one of the new two-way GPS systems, they all have the same shortcomings.
